What to do next if your unmetered heat network tests positive for final customer meters
Hundreds of heat network operators must install final customer meters in unmetered properties – following positive cost effectiveness assessments as part of the Heat Network Metering and Billing Regulations.
Despite the many benefits of installing individual smart metering systems in homes connected to heat networks, around 250,000 UK properties are currently unmetered.
31st December 2019 was the deadline for heat suppliers to submit their renotifications of heat networks they operate to the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS). However, we have been made aware only a small portion of the 17,000 heat networks registered in 2015 have been re-registered by the 31st December deadline.
