We did it: The G10 Smart Metering Hub has officially launched!
On 18 March, we took over Marble Arch, for a buzzing afternoon of ideas, demos, great conversations and the official launch of our brand‑new G10 Smart Metering Hub.
We brought together suppliers, partners and industry friends to dive into why the G10 matters, what went into building it, and how it’s going to help shape the future of heat networks in the UK.
So… what’s the hype about the G10?
The G10 Smart Metering Hub isn’t just another smart meter. It’s an award‑winning, open‑platform, and the first ever smart meter to bring tap‑and‑pay technology to heat networks.
Think smoother customer experience, better data, improved transparency and simpler compliance for operators.
In short: a big step forward for smarter, more efficient heat networks.
Kicking things off with big-picture insights
Our CEO Richard Harrison and heat network stalwart Ian Allan opened the event by exploring how central heat networks are to the UK’s decarbonisation journey:
- What customers now expect
- And how innovation can keep the sector ahead of the curve
Regulation, compliance & everything operators need to know
Next up, our resident regulatory experts Yanik Croston and Dr Cathy Olphin jumped into what’s changing with Ofgem’s consumer protection standards and the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS).
Their message was clear: the expectations are rising, and the G10 can help meet them.
A partner perspective: collaboration in action
Glenn shared why open partnerships matter more than ever, and how collaboration across the industry can unlock smarter, more responsive systems for everyone, especially customers.
Hands-on demos: seeing the G10 in action
Guests were given a full walkthrough of the intuitive experience that their residents can expect from the G10. From transparent consumption data to inbuilt budgeting tools that deliver greater levels of control.
The demonstrations also provided guests with insights into the operator’s portal, where the G10 can be remotely controlled and monitored, providing the greater levels of information that is key to understanding the performance of a heat network.
Wrapping up with a look ahead
Richard closed the event by highlighting one thing: as heat network regulation ramps up, strong, reliable data is going to be the backbone of improved performance, compliance and customer experience.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, our brilliant speakers, and our partners at Vital Energi for helping make the launch such a success.
We’re incredibly excited about what’s next, both for the G10 and for the future of smarter, more transparent heat networks.
