Unlike standard heating systems, heat networks require a comprehensive approach—from the energy centre to the radiators—demanding expertise from contractors specializing in the entire network.
Data-driven insights into network performance are invaluable, helping pinpoint inefficiencies and prioritise maintenance needs. This analytical approach is more crucial than ever considering the ongoing energy crisis and rising operational costs.
To support the expansion and enhancement of heat networks, the UK government introduced funding initiatives such as the Heat Network Investment Project and the Green Heat Network Fund in 2013. The Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) particularly focuses on reducing carbon emissions, improving customer confidence, and enhancing reliability.
Eligibility for funding spans district heat networks and communal heating systems across the public, private, or third-party sectors in England and Wales. The funding encompasses revenue grants for optimisation studies and capital grants for installation works, offering a pathway to upgrading old schemes to meet current standards.
To date, Switch2 has illustrated exceptional mastery in securing funding for its clients, with over 50 applications successfully processed. This effort has translated into £2.97 million in grant funding for capital projects, with an overall project value nearing £6.1 million.
