Meet the Team - Georgina McKenzie, Stakeholder Engagement Officer for Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV)

Posted by Lucy Glynn

Switch2 are working in partnership with Greenwich Millennium Village Management Limited (GMVL) to undertake a major upgrade of the existing heat network serving phase 1 and 2 and once complete, Switch2 will operate and maintain the network as a long-term ESCo partner.

Located a short walking distance from the Millennium Dome, Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV) is a joint venture by Taylor Wimpey Central London and Countryside Properties, built between 2002 and 2009.

In this article, we meet Georgina McKenzie, Stakeholder Engagement Officer at Switch2 to find more about her and how she’ll be supporting residents at Greenwich Millennium Village.

Great to meet you Georgina! Tell us a little about your background and your role at Switch2…

I recently joined Switch2 as a Stakeholder Engagement Officer, to support the residents who live at GMV during the upgrade and into the future.

I’m a real people person and I’ve had various customer facing roles since the start of my career. Before joining Switch2, I was a Resident Liaison Officer for a large construction company, ensuring continuous communication between the residents and the site managers. A large part of my job was making sure that residents had a clear first point of contact and that any of their concerns were heard.

What will your role be at GMV?

I’ll be stationed full time at GMV, and I will be the first point of contact for all residents. I’ll be getting to know everyone who lives there, with the main aim to ensure that they are kept updated throughout the project and beyond. I’ll also be a sounding board for any concerns and will be liaising between the project team and the residents to ensure the project runs as smoothly as possible for residents and is completed on time.

What are you most looking forward to with the project at GMV?

I’m looking forward to making a real difference to the residents who live at GMV. I think the project will create significant improvements to the current system in place, bringing reliable, cost-effective, low carbon heating and hot water to those on the scheme.

Outside of work, what do you like to do?

I’m a fun, loving and go getting individual. I love people. I tend to spend my spare time with my family and friends. I love to do painting and decorating and recently painted the front of my home. I also attend sheltered housing once a month where I visit elderly residents; spending time talking to them and playing solitaire.
