Fuel Poverty Day 2024: A week of action in support of National Energy Action

Posted by Remi Adeleke

The Switch2 team recently joined in with the national fuel poverty awareness campaign to support our charity of the year, National Energy Action, the UK’s leading fuel poverty charity.

In support of Fuel Poverty Awareness Day (Wednesday 27th November), the Switch2 team held a bake sale at our head office and raised around £100 for National Energy Action. The charity also led a Lunch and Learn workshop for the team, focusing on the devastating effects of fuel poverty and what we can do to combat it.

Staff also took part in the ‘Nation’s Biggest Housewarming’ by dressing warm – raising vital awareness and funds to help tackle fuel poverty across the UK.

As the UK’s most experienced provider of end-to-end solutions for heat networks, serving more than 500,000 households, our partnership with National Energy Action is part of our ongoing commitment to protecting customers and those affected by the rising cost of energy.

We are working closely with National Energy Action to help raise awareness of fuel poverty and offer direct support to those most in need.

This collaboration is part of our mission to create positive social impact and aligns with our commitment to stand by our customers during challenging times.

National Energy Action campaigns so everyone can afford to live in a warm and safe home. This is something denied to millions because of poor housing, low incomes, and high bills.

Cathy Olphin, Sustainability Manager, said:

“Now that we have chosen to support NEA as an organisation, we’re excited to kick off our year of support on Fuel Poverty Awareness Day.

“There is a buzz about the events already and a great appetite from the team to get involved in a cause which is close to everyone’s hearts as it aligns so closely with our work and values.

“Everyone should have access to reliable, affordable energy. We have long been dedicated to protecting our customers through education campaigns, advice, and support, so partnering with National Energy Action to share our expertise in this area is a natural fit.

“We’re confident this will launch our partnership with a bang and lead to some important awareness raising and fundraising.”

Over the next year, our partnership with National Energy Action will involve collaborative efforts designed to help those at risk of fuel poverty. These will include campaigns aimed at raising awareness of the challenges faced by households in heating their homes, as well as more fundraising efforts to support National Energy Action’s work.
